Biography / History

Szczepan Karol Zimmer (1903-1984) was a member of the Polish American Congress, librarian, writer, and historian of literature. Before the World War II he lived in Lwow. During the World War II as a Polish soldier was a prisoner in German camps. In 1951 he emigrated to the USA. He lived in Chicago and in Los Angeles. Acquisition Note: Gift ca. 1986.

Abstract

The collection contains correspondence between Szczepan Karol Zimmer and the publishers, particularly “The Polish Review” and Ludwik Krzyzanowski. Letters concern Zimmer’s articles and the book “The Beginning of Cyrillic Printing – Cracow 1491”. Also there are financial records regarding the book, notes of the critics and press clippings. Arrangement in Series: Correspondence (1975-1985), Press Clippings (1984) and Publications (1976-1985).
